About Me
-
Hi, I’m Mike Shihadeh, a licensed therapist dedicated to helping individuals and couples navigate life’s complexities with curiosity, respect, and empowerment. My work is inspired by the beauty of discovery—whether it’s exploring our minds, our emotions, or the natural world around us.
Growing up as an Arab American, I’ve lived at the intersection of collectivist and individualist cultures. This perspective helps me approach therapy with nuance, understanding that solutions are rarely one-size-fits-all. Whether working with adolescents through play-based approaches like Critical Core or helping couples rediscover their admiration using Gottman Therapy, I strive to create a safe, intentional space where meaningful growth can happen.
Though the eclectic approach is what i use with my clients, Victor Frankl’s logo therapy and Rogers Humansitic approch are two modalities i find myself pulling from most in my personal life.
I believe that even the most uncomfortable emotions serve a purpose. Together, we’ll explore their roots, uncover patterns, and build new pathways toward resilience. My passion for neurology and psychology fuels my approach—understanding that humans are, at their core, pattern recognition machines. Just as we can be triggered by past pain, we can create new rituals to bring calm and empowerment into our lives. For me, therapy isn’t about reliance—it’s about giving you the tools and confidence to navigate life on your terms. My goal is to work myself out of a job by equipping you to face life’s challenges independently, while still offering support when you need it.
Outside of therapy, you’ll often find me hiking, reading about neurology and psychology, or running games like Dungeons & Dragons.
If you’re ready to start your journey, I’d be honored to walk alongside you. :)
